This week, we’re seeing green all around.
Green is most obviously associated with nature. Nature also translates to growth and renewal. In music, oftentimes, green albums tell coming-of-age stories or stories of new beginnings after devastating events (breakups, etc).
Green is also the color of jealousy which is where the phrase “seeing green” derives. The jealousy themes are connected to the theme of youth or a lack of experience. Green music connects to this jealousy theme in songs where a lover feels scorned. However, the green color may be more muted and dark.
Also known as the money color, green represents abundance and wealth in all forms, not just money. Rappers occasionally use green to reflect their rich lifestyles, but green can also reflect cultural abundance and wealth.
An artist’s use of the color green tells a lot about what life looks like for them beyond the music industry. Explore the albums below and comment what you discover!
