The color of sunshine but also the color of caution, yellow has many meanings.
Yellow signifies warmth and happiness. In music, yellow comes in many hues from the bright and invigorating highlighter color to the muted and understated golden color. Many album covers, while not obviously yellow in color, will have a yellow overlay placed on the cover to still invoke the same feelings.
On the other hand, yellow can also signify caution, cowardice, and deceit. Yellow is the color of traffic signals and is a color meant to grab the viewer's attention. In music, the color can be used in a similar way. A bright yellow album cover is sure to pull anyone's eyes. Yellow also indicates sensationalism and excess. Golden hues showcase the rich lifestyle of musicians and the music may discuss the dangers of having too much or the loneliness that comes with materialism. Calling yellow a complex color is an understatement.
